Ms. Marvel Talks Have Happened Between Marvel And Mindy Kaling

Despite the package office success of superhero films along with the depth of a few of their source material, many of these films are noticed as shallow, mindless movies without having serious characterization. This assessment is not true. Superheroes may be complex characters with well-defined personalities, and the right actors and actresses will bring these personalities your on the big screen. As five films demonstrate, playing roles that originate in comics doesn't diminish actors'credibility. They still make roles and characters seriously, even when dealing with outlandish premises. In "Watchmen," Jackie Earle Haley unquestionably sociopathic vigilante Walter Kovacs, also referred to as Rorschach. From the first lines of your film, viewers get a particular glimpse of Rorschach's unhinged personality from his monologue about the decaying morality of New York City and, by extension, other world. Kovacs is inwardly tortured and angry at both himself and society, and the man sizzling hot they know of to cope with this anger is always to hunt those he sees as criminals. The scene during which he fully discards his civilian identity as Rorschach serves as one example: Haley makes Kovacs visibly shiver with anger at Blair Roche's brutal death because he exacts justice within the murderer. Another scene, where Kovacs is in prison after being apprehended, shows how contemptuous they're of criminals even as he is seemingly at their mercy.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige expressed interest in bringing Ms. Marvel

to the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year. At the time, the studio was hard at work on getting Captain Marvel finished, but Feige said there were definite plans to do something with the Pakistani-American superhero, aka Kamala Khan. Now, Mindy Kaling has revealed that she has been in talks with the studio about ideas of getting Khan's story told, which is pretty exciting news for fans who have been waiting for an official update.

Back when Kevin Feige first made the comments about

Ms. Marvel coming to the MCU, he noted Captain Marvel had to be introduced first and then they would go back and look at bringing Kamala Khan's story to the screen. It looks like the idea is still in development as Mindy Kaling admits to talking with the studio. She had this to say about some possible involvement in the

Ms. Marvel project.

"I think the people I've spoken to at Marvel about it are so excited about the character and I think that they're trying to figure out what to do with it, and, I told them I would help in any way because I truly love her. They really seemed interested, and I think they will probably do something. Now that there's like this streaming service with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much excitement there is."

Mindy Kaling expressed immediate interest when the

Ms. Marvel news dropped last year. Riz Ahmed tweeted about the project to Marvel Studios and mentioned himself, Kaling, and Kumail Nanjiani, which is when Kaling professed her love for the character. She said, "I am obsessed with this comic book, I've read them all. I love Kamala Khan." As for who could play the character on the big screen, Kaling says, "You know, I feel like it might need to be an unknown," shooting down rumors she might play Khan.

Marvel Studios has been working on diversifying their projects over the years, which started in a big way with last year's Black Panther and continued with this year's Captain Marvel. Kevin Feige is expected to make a few big announcements this summer in regard to the MCU's mysterious Phase 4, but it looks like The Eternals is going to be one of them, possibly with an openly gay superhero. Additionally, a Black Panther sequel is being planned and the Shang-Chi movie is also in development. The studio has been very vocal about representation over the past few years.

In "The Mighty Thor," another superhero movie, Chris Hemsworth brings the Norse mythological god of thunder to life. Exiled from Asgard as a consequence of his arrogance, Thor has got to regain Odin's favor and his or her own powers to deal with the trickster god Loki. Hemsworth portrays Thor's difficulty in getting used to Midgard/Earth in the diner scene: the Asgardian custom of slamming a mug available to exhibit appreciation is humorous to the target audience and in-character for Thor, however it is off-putting for Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) along with the other humans. Through this along with scenes, viewers discover how awkward Thor is and perceive his disoriented confusion, which ends up in violence after he's got first landed on Earth. Thor attacks everyone in a very rage, unable to take that they have temporarily become fully human. Over the course of the film, Thor becomes more familiar with being among humans, an improvement that is definitely reflected in their natural conversations with Jane Foster and Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard). From the trilogy of films that is named for him, the half-breed vampire hunter Blade represents another illustration of a well-played comic book hero. Acted by Wesley Snipes, this character is gritty yet stylish, perhaps to supply a contrast to your angst-ridden literary vampires that have been previously popular. Snipes participates in intense action sequences with the same stoicism viewers would expect of a reality-based superhero, spending some time to generate witty profanity-laced one-liners. Along with the X-Men and Spider-Man, Blade was the first superheroes arrive at the large screen. The 1989 "Batman" film features Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader in certainly one of his hottest adaptations. Although Christian Bale's performance in "The Dark Knight Trilogy" is widely praised, many viewers criticized the gravelly voice Bale uses when playing Batman, claiming this makes it harder to consider him seriously. Keaton plays Batman more suavely, striking a blend between your dark, serious Bale along with the lighthearted Adam West through the 1960s movies. Simply speaking, Keaton plays the role of Batman naturally rather than like a deliberately adopted persona.

Finally, one of the best superhero movie performances ever goes into a villain: the Joker in "The Dark Knight." Heath Ledger's take to the iconic Batman villain brings the Joker's menace, macabre humor, and passion for chaos a single package that 's best illustrated from the chilling "magic trick" scene during which he gouges out a mobster's eye having a pencil. The Joker comes across as perpetually filled with nervous energy and near violence. Small mannerisms such as constantly licking his lips and nervously researching, with the menacing voice Ledger developed, get this to Joker considered one of Batman fans'favorites. These actors hardly ever provide the one five a example of nuanced acting in superhero films. "Captain America: The First Avenger" has Chris Evans as an uncomfortable but well-meaning superhero, "Spider-Man" has Toby MacGuire portraying one of the most well-known adaptation of Peter Parker, and "Iron Man" provides the snarky and suave Tony Stark played by Robert Downey Jr. While comic films may seem like shallow entertainment, actors can have fun with the roles sufficiently for making audiences suspend their disbelief.
